In late 2002, the Town of Perth and District Community Development Office commissioned Matthew Fischer & Associates Consulting Firm to perform an economic base analysis of the greater Perth area.

The purpose of this project was to establish accurate information on the local economy that could be used identify strategy options and to effectively market the community. Recognizing and assessing the state of the local economy is paramount in order to set goals, provide a benchmark against which future development efforts can be judged, and to market the community using researched facts. This economic base analysis study also determined the market advantage or distinction of our community.
