Doors Open
The Heritage Management Committee takes part in the Ontario Heritage Trust’s Doors Open event. Perth opens its doors to heritage buildings for residents and visitors to tour and learn the historical significance of each. The event attracts over 1000 visitors.
Thirty years of preservation efforts have brought Perth the Heritage Canada Foundation’s Prince of Wales Prize for 2004. The award, established in 1999, honours municipal governments for commitment to the preservation of heritage buildings. Previous recipients include Markham, Ontario, Victoria, B.C., Saint John, N.B. and Quebec City.
The Town of Perth appointed Brent McLaren as Town Crier in order to bring Perth's vast heritage to life. View Brent's website Perth Town Crier for all the details.
