Welcome to the Homepage of Perth 200 - where you'll find information about the 200th Anniversary of the Perth Military Settlement from Perth, Ontario CANADA taking place in 2016. 200 years marks a milestone in our community history. In 2016 Perth will celebrate by acknowledging our heritage roots.

Perth Town Council established a 200th Anniversary Advisory Panel in 2008 made up of a Council representative, Town staff and community members. Together this Panel has adopted a Mission Statement, a logo and completed a Business Plan to guide the planning of events in 2016. The Panel reports to the Committee of the Whole, which reports to Council.

Mission Statement:
"2016 will be a year-long celebration that links our unique past to the promises of our future."

Logo:
The Perth 200th Logo (shown above) was designed by Perth area resident David Bromley, and depicts the connection between rural and urban communities, as well as incorporating the Tay River. The heritage architecture of Perth is depicted with the use of the iconic Town Hall. Also included are images connecting to Perth's military history, maple industry, the pistols used in the Last Fatal Duel, a Scottish thistle, and Olympians Ian Millar and Big Ben. The logo has been copyrighted by the Town of Perth and is available for use by community groups upon approval by the Panel.

*Note: TheTown has a Logo ID Guide that provides information on permissions and terms of use. Please contact the number below to request your copy.

Business Plan:
Throughout the year, the community will showcase all that Perth has to offer in culture, the arts, recreation, sport, community spirit, natural landscapes and built heritage. It's anticipated that once visitors experience Perth, they will be compelled to return time and again.

The Panel hopes to work with all organizations, businesses and individuals in the community to brand 200 events under the Perth 200 name, promoting these events in the community, the region, across Canada and the world.

As plans unfold, the Advisory Panel will be seeking volunteers from the community to assist in the areas of Events, Legacy, Community Engagement, Marketing & Promotion and Finance.
