ROADS, WINTER CONTROL, STREET LIGHTS AND PARKING INFRASTRUCTURE

Roads:
The municipality operates an urban road network consisting of approximately 98-lane kilometers of roadway. There is approximately 40 kilometres of sidewalks throughout the municipality to convey pedestrians. Eight large bridges are located throughout the municipality to convey traffic and pedestrians over the Tay River.

Winter Control:
The municipality is responsible for the winter maintenance on municipal parking lots, streets networks, and sidewalks. The municipality provides snowplowing, snow removal, and surface treatment (salt/sand application) to ensure the safe passage of vehicles and pedestrians.  The service is provided using municipal staff and heavy equipment with contracted equipment being secured for snow removal activities.

Street Lights:
The municipality is responsible for the street light networks throughout the municipality in areas along urban streets, in the BIA district, in parking lots, and in subdivisions. The size and type of light varies throughout the urban boundaries based on the light quality and landscaping features in each area.

Parking Infrastructure:
The municipality provides various levels of parking throughout its jurisdiction; these levels include parking lots, metered on- street parking, and on-street courtesy parking. The parking lots are located at two locations on Wilson Street, Perth Museum, Herriott Street, and at the Downtown Parking Basin.
