Newsletter # 2 - Arterial Roadway - Class Environmental Assessment Study
INTRODUCTION
In October 2006 the Town of Perth initiated a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study for Arterial Roadways to examine alternatives to address operational, safety and capacity concerns regarding bother overall traffic management in the long term and truck traffic issues in the downtown core.
EA PROCESS
This study is following the process for Schedule 'C' undertakings as per the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, June 2000. There are opportunities for public input through the study at two Open Houses and through direct contact with Town representatives and the Project Team. The first Open House was June 27th, 2007.
Notices have been published in local newspapers in advance of the Open Houses and when the ESR became available. Anyone who feels that environmental concerns with the ESR remain unresolved following the review may request that the Minister of Environment make on order for the project to comply with Part II of the Environmental Act, which would require preparation of an Individual EA. The decision to require an Individual EA rests with the Minister.
